Bárbara Tavares is an international Character Designer and Visual Development Artist native to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Raised in a coastal city, her lifelong connection to tropical environments serves as the foundational anchor for her world-building, she translates this bright, breezy atmosphere through a distinctive use of chalk pastel textures, intentionally maintaining raw, negative white spaces that allow the artwork to breathe. Driven by a deep passion for archaeology, botany, and photography, Bárbara adopts a highly systematic, research-intensive approach to visual storytelling, diving into historical costuming, regional ecosystems, and natural lighting for feature films and original properties in development.

 

Prior to working on independent intellectual properties, Bárbara contributed for Hollywood, The Walt Disney Company, The Youth & CO, among others.

When in need of fresh artistic fuel, she explores new territories, traveling light with nothing but a traditional paper skecthbook to capture the rythm and gestures of everyday life.
